67.2 Firmness in Action
Question:
What happens when a project
is not completed?
Answer:
It is manliness to
complete the project that has been started.
Terminating the project
in the middle will cause endless troubles. (Couplet
– 663)
கடைக்கொட்கச் செய்தக்க தாண்மை இடைக்கொட்கின்
எற்றா விழுமந் தரும். (குறள் – 663)
Explanation:
In the planning
process, the importance of the project, the scope of the project, and the resources
required to complete the job should be thoroughly researched. Only after proper
planning, a project must be undertaken. If the project is important enough to
be completed, then every effort should be made to complete the project on time
as planned. If an important project is abandoned in the middle, it will cause
many problems. For example, if a vital construction project is terminated in
the middle, all the expenses incurred would have been wasted. If the project is
essential, it must be completed sooner or later. When the project is restarted
after a long lapse of time, the cost of construction would be much higher than
what was initially planned.
Suppose
two countries are involved in a war. One country cannot arbitrarily decide not
to fight. Such a decision will be fatal to that country. In a war, there are
only three options to end the war. One option is for the two countries to sign
a peace treaty and stop fighting. The second option is one country can
surrender to the other country. In the absence of the first two options, the
war will go on until one country wins over the other. Arbitrarily stopping to
fight when the war is in progress is a foolish move that will result in grave
consequences. Therefore, when a project is undertaken after proper planning, it
is wise to complete it as planned.
