 85.3 Ignorant Conceitedness

Question:

      Is it possible to educate an ignorant, conceited person?

Answer:

One who tries to educate an ignorant conceited person is a fool, for the

ignorant conceited person continues to see things his own way.     (Couplet – 849)

காணாதான் காட்டுவான் தான்காணான் காணாதான்

கண்டானாம் தான்கண்ட வாறு.                          (குறள் – 849)

 

Explanation:  

            The ignorant, conceited person is an arrogant fool. He neither knows nor does he listen to others. Since he already thinks he knows everything, he will not listen to someone who tries to educate him. So, it is impossible to educate an ignorant, conceited person. Only a fool will try to educate an ignorant, conceited person.
